Why did Mary remain a virgin after the birth of Jesus?
Why did the Virgin Mary remain a virgin even after the birth of Jesus?
It is an interesting question, and it can be answered on both a divine and a human level.
In this video, Jimmy Akin explores both aspects of the question, showing why, on a human level, Mary would have chosen to remain a virgin and why, on a divine level, God would find it fitting to have his Son born of a woman who remained a virgin for her whole life.
In the process, Jimmy quotes from from a little-known document from the A.D. 100s that sheds some light on the question.

Who is knocking at your door?
To get to the very heart of the question, is that we are drawn to God and our quest for God.
St. Augustine: “…for you have made us for yourself, and our heart is restless until it rests in you.”
There are many ideas in various religions in the past and present about god or gods. Some religions are monotheistic (belief in one God)other polytheistic (many gods). We as Christians believe in one God. What is that we believe and who is God? For a good discussion read Catechism of Catholic Church section one on what “I believe”-“we believe."
Well at this point, is this important you may be thinking, why it matters? Imagine someone comes and knocks on your door and claims to be your friend or your brother? What are the chances of you inviting him in and having supper together? The chances are nil if you don’t know the person and the especially if the claims are false. You may even find yourself dialing 999.
One of the passages which is often quoted from the book from Revelation 3:20
Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.
Inviting our Lord into our hearts, as emphasised by the Evangelicals is very important as should be, by the Catholic Evangelicals going a step further the verse goes on to tells us eat with him. This is understood to be the Eucharist, the Mass.
(Jesus) will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.
Faith in God is knowing him and having a relationship with him, inviting him into our hearts. He is always there at the door knocking. This is what happens at every Mass. We gather to meet Him. We are sorry for sins (Confiteor) . We open our hearts, and our minds, listening to the Word. Here our response to the word of the Lord is of gratitude: “thanks be to God.”We praise, stand and greet the Gospel like Lord Himself has come in our midst. We fall on our knees when His sacrifice once and for all is made present on the Altar. We proceed to receive our Lord, who is truly present Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity. You can’t get more personal than that, with the One, who is the Way, the Truth and Life. He knocks at our doors. In this year of faith let us know Him, open the door, and let Him in our hearts and dine with Him.
Sometimes you will have other people knocking at your door who are going to claim what you believe is false. This is done by asking you a set of leading questions or using fallacies to prove that what Catholics believe is pagan.

I am including some links below to help you answer these questions, but always remember to dial “PRAY." Prayer is important when you study and answer the claims these people make.
